Music Bus Illustration

I feel privileged to have been able to combine my love of illustration, music and my local area into such a fantastic project. Brighton and Hove Buses approached my employer, Identity Group, with a creative, open brief to design a wrap for one of their Bendy Buses. After presenting them with several styles of design, this illustrative idea was the one they opted to progress - and with very little change from conception to reality. INITIAL SKETCHES

Initial concepts were created for the client including the rough illustration below. I used a combination of hand-drawn elements, scanned into Photoshop, and digital painting (or drawing in this case) to comp the idea together on the bus schematic. The windows couldn't be too covered up, so the majority of the design had to sit under the windows.

FINAL ARTWORK

Once the initial idea had been signed off it was a case of redrawing the individual elements in Photoshop using a Wacom Cintiq and then tracing to vector in Illustrator. It was all pulled together over the bus schematic and then coloured up and tweaked accordingly.
